Trick Or Treating

Tonight Auntie Dawn and I took my little pirate out for a night of candy pillaging.  The night started off a little rough and Aiden was a little tired and upset he couldn't go into everyone's house but he soon got the hang of trick-or-treating and by the end of the night he was a pro at it and the phrase of the night was "more houses please".  He had a blast and everyone was very impressed with what a cute pirate he made.  After we were done and back at Grandma & Grandpa's house Aiden was a big help handing out the candy bags to all the trick-or-treaters that came by.

2010 Halloween Photo Card

So I finally got around to making our 2010 Halloween card (I know I was being a slacker) and it came out pretty good.  I was hoping to do a pirate theme but couldn't find any cute graphics to add.  I may make a new one in the next few days but decided to go with this one to send out.  Now just to mail them out :)  Hope everyone has a great Halloween.

Arrghh Matey!! Halloween 2010 Photo Shoot

I took Aiden to get his 2010 Halloween photos done today and he had a blast!  We went to The Picture People and our photographer, Garrett, was really great and we walked away with another huge package of photos (much to my wallet's despair).  This year Aiden is going to be a pirate and he is in love with his costume.  As he gets older the holidays just get more and more fun :)

Day Out With Thomas

Today was a great day and Aiden got to see a life size Thomas the train at Roaring Camp Railroads in Felton, CA.  Aiden, Daddy, and Mommy all started the morning with a ride in a covered train car where Aiden was able to sit comfortably and see all the trees and nature out of the window as the train moved along (we were happy to not have to get wet due to all the fog outside).  Thomas music was playing inside of the car and Aiden was very excited for the ride.  “All aboard” and “Tickets please” were 2 phrases he was using consistently and he even got a Jr. Engineer certificate from the staff.

After the ride, we stopped by the bubble station and Aiden was able to make lots of bubbles big and small with some of the other children.  He was having a blast running around with the bubble wand.  We then headed over to the train tables where Aiden had no hesitation about getting right in there and playing with the Thomas trains on the wooden tracks.  A little boy was very nice and shared his train with Aiden when there was no trains available.  I think that Aiden could have stayed there all day long since he was a little upset to have to leave.  However, his hesitation to go was quickly over when he saw one of the big steam trains coming by.   After the train tables, we headed over to the giant air figure of Percy and waited to get Aiden’s picture on it but he really didn’t want to sit so I guess we will have to try that next year.

Since Aiden was getting tired (he was up most of the night before), it was time to leave but on the way out Aiden got a James tattoo and we stopped by the video booth where he was able to watch a fun Thomas video with some of the other kids that were there.   When the movie ended, Aiden was again upset to have to leave but was a great little boy overall.

Daddy, Aiden, and Mommy all headed home from a fun and exciting morning with Thomas and all his friends.  For the next day Aiden was obsessed with all things Thomas.  We are looking forward to next year!!

Measurement Day

So Auntie Dawn and I measured Aiden today and he is now 37inches tall (3 feet, 1 inch)!!  He is growing so much I can't believe how big he has gotten.

After we were done measuring him, he borrowed the tape measure and spent the next 15 minutes measuring all of the marks on the wall.  He even got his crayon and added his own marks to the ones Mommy made (which Mommy said was ok).  He is so excited to try all the things he sees us doing.  I am so proud of him every day!!

New Tooth

So after thinking that Aiden had all his teeth in, he showed me his mouth and low and behold the bottom right molar is only halfway through.  No wonder he has been chewing so much lately and not eating right.  He is being a trooper so hopefully it will break through the rest of the way with minimal discomfort for him.  Been also thinking that it is about time to get him to the dentist for his first ever checkup.  Found out that Dr. Wolkstein, my old dentist, is still in practice along with his son.  I had such a great experience with him that I am going to definitely take Aiden there.

Change Galore

Mommy went back to work today after being home for over a year and we were a little worried about how Aiden would handle the transition.  Much to my delight he took it very well and we have not had one incident that involved tears.  Spending the day with Grandma and still having his sessions has tired him out but in a good way.  He had a great time and didn't want to go home at the end of the day.

I am very blessed that Aiden is such a happy little boy who takes change really well.  He has such an optimistic personality and never dwells on anything negative for long.  I think the transition was harder for Mommy than Aiden!!

I am very excited now for Aiden’s first day of preschool as I can rest easier knowing that I have nothing to worry about.  Though it will be a big change I know my little guy will do great and have a blast.  I know that he is excited to go too as he never wants to leave when we go to visit.

Preschool Tour Today

Today we went and toured a local preschool, Play N Learn, and Aiden had a great time.  We were also very impressed with the facilities and the staff was very friendly.  Since mommy will be going back to work this week, we have decided to enroll Aiden in 2 days of school a week which will we think he will enjoy a lot.  They invited us to join them at their Luau BBQ this weekend so it should be fun and a good chance to talk to some of the parents about their thoughts on the school.  We are looking forward to learning and seeing more.

Movin Up to Level 6

Today we tried out the Level 6 class at Gymboree as Aiden has been towering over the kids in Level 5.  It was a pleasant change and Aiden enjoyed the new activities.  They had story time, follow the leader activities, songs, bubbles, and the favorite thing was the parachute tent we all made towards the end of class.  Aiden had a great time and is looking forward to making new friends in class every week.

My Little Cowboy

We finally found a cowboy hat for Aiden at the Alameda County Fair since he has been wanting one for so long.   He wouldn't take it off for anything and wears it every chance he gets at home.  He also goes around saying "Yee Haw" or  "Howdy" which I think is the cutest thing ever :)

Also at the Fair, Aiden got to see the piglet races and he had a blast.  He was getting into it so much that everyone around us couldn't keep from laughing.  I was holding onto Aiden's monkey backpack and had a hard time keeping the camera still.  It was a great day overall.

2 Year Photo Shoot

Well it was that time again and Grandma (my mom) and I took Aiden to get his 2 year photos professionally taken at The Picture People in Oakridge Mall.  Aiden was in a great mood though maybe a little too great :)  He was a bundle of energy and wouldn't sit still for even a minute.  He was giggling and having a great time jumping and running around exploring the whole studio.  Luckily the photographer was very patient and took as many shots as he could manage to get with Aiden in one place.  When Aiden tripped over his own feet running around it was time to call it quits and hope for the best.  We had low expectations and didn't really think the photographer was able to get any good photos but to our surprise he got a few that turned out great.  We are fortunate that Aiden is pretty photogenic and getting good photos has not been too hard even with a moving target :)

2 Year Checkup

Aiden went to see Dr. Min today for his 2 year checkup. He did great and the doctor was very impressed by how strong and resourceful he is (he found a way to get into everything). Aiden is now 35 1/2" tall (80th percentile) and weighs 28 pounds (50th percentile). He is on track to be tall like his daddy (6'2") but only time will tell. Aiden did great when they had to give him his 2nd Hepatitis A shot and he didn't even flinch, I am so proud of my little tough guy!! He definitely deserved the sticker he got on the way out :)

Aiden Turns 2

Aiden turned the big 2 today and I can't believe that it is already here. How time flies by and he is no longer my little baby but has turned into a little boy overnight it seems. I can't believe how much he has grown in the course of 2 years and all the things he can do now and how much he understands. Though he is still not really talking, (he can do many animal sounds, and say a few words) his comprehension level is astounding and he is such the problem solver. If it can be reached he will find how it works. AJ is a bundle of energy and I think that he really only has one speed, FAST, which keeps me on my toes but we are finding good outlets to help him get it all out while learning control and patience at the same time.

We celebrated his birthday today, February 27th, 2010, at home with family and it was a big success. The theme for the day was Thomas the Tank Engine (Aiden loves trains) which worked out great. Aiden loved spending the day with everyone who came but especially his cousins; Logan, Nevaeh, and Sean who he doesn't get to see very often. Also, the weather held out for a little while and AJ was able to show off his birthday present from Mommy and Daddy, a wooden play set in the backyard, and all the kids had a blast climbing, swinging, and sliding.
